Shrimp paste, or Thai Kapee, is fermented and ground shrimp. It is a brilliant and healthier alternative to fish sauce and is a very important ingredient in Asian Cooking.
The taste of Thai shrimp paste is highly salty, with an incredibly pungent scent. Like anchovies, the fishy flavour is not noticeable when cooked. The paste adds a rich, salty and Umami complexity to finished dishes.
This product is essential for Thai cooking enthusiasts for meals such as Thai Red Curry, Thai Green Curry, stir-fries, dipping sauces, Laska and Hot and Sour Soups.
