Shrimp paste, or Thai Kapee, is fermented and ground shrimp. It is a brilliant and healthier alternative to fish sauce and is a very important ingredient in Asian Cooking.

The taste of Thai shrimp paste is highly salty, with an incredibly pungent scent. Like anchovies, the fishy flavour is not noticeable when cooked. The paste adds a rich, salty and Umami complexity to finished dishes.

This product is essential for Thai cooking enthusiasts for meals such as Thai Red Curry, Thai Green Curry, stir-fries, dipping sauces, Laska and Hot and Sour Soups. You could also try our Thai Panang Cooking Sauce, which demonstrates the versatility and flavour of Shrimp Paste. Alternatively, use wherever  you would fish sauce.

Our Shrimp Paste was named a Delia Smith Cheat Ingredient in her cookbook ‘Delia’s How to Cheat at Cooking’. The product was used in her Thai Green Prawn Curry (page 134) if you would like to recreate!

I haven't tried the shrimp paste yet but I will no longer go any where else for my spices. The spices at seasoned pioneers are the best I have tasted. I have even had to make my own spice rack to accommodate them. I have also tried a lot of the recipes and I have not had a bad one yet.

A must for Thai prawns. Just so intense and savoury. I do not know any other source for this excellent product, and I don't need to.
