Guajillo, ancho, cinnamon, thyme, cumin, clove and oregano form this authentic Mexican Adobo Spice Mix. Wonderfully spicy with punchy herbal flavours, this blend is a crowd-pleaser straight from the pouch!

Throughout Mexico, adobo is a marinade created by mixing tomatoes, chillies, herbs and spices to form a shocking red paste. The paste is liberally spread over meat and grilled or used as a cooking sauce.

Mexican Adobo Spice Rub is an integral part of Mexico’s culinary heritage, playing a prominent role in many different dishes which showcase the diversity and depth of the country’s delicious food.

Adobo is derived from the Spanish word “adobar”, which means to marinate or season, but indigenous cultures throughout Mexico were using various spice blends and preservation techniques for centuries, long before colonisation. The use of dried chilli peppers were well known to enhance the flavours and extend the longevity of their food.

To use, just mix a few teaspoons with lime juice and garlic and rub on meat, poultry, vegetables and fish.

Mexican Adobo can also be used to make tacos, fajitas and burritos. Try adding to guacamole, salsa and sour cream for a true Mexican feast!

Bought this for a relative who’d mentioned how good it was when used in a hello fresh recipe. She’s since made chilli, used this spice mix and said it was really good. PS delivery really quick. Thanks

Marinated some strips of beef (frying steak) with garlic, lime juice, salt and oil with a couple of heaped teaspoons of the spice mix. Fried some sliced peppers and onions and, separately, the marinated beef. Removed the beef to rest whilst reducing the spicy beef juices before mixing the whole lot together. Stuffed into toasted wholemeal pitta breads. Unique and wonderful. Seasoned Pioneers allow you not only to experience new flavours but to actually create dishes with them.

Absolutely the best rub on spices to add to salmon particularly before oven baking that we have found. It really complements the fish flavour. We have re-ordered more than once.
