Ground bay leaves have a strong, spicy flavour with a tart, peppery aroma. Bay leaves have been used around the world for centuries and were first grown in the Mediterranean. The powder is often used to flavour tomato-based dishes and custards.

Additionally, with a more concentrated flavour compared to whole bay leaves, you may have noticed they’re a common ingredient in many other spice blends such as garam masala and some curry powders. Ground bay leaves a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, vitamin A, and iron and can even be used as an insect repellent, thanks to their strong aroma.

Do not be afraid to get creative with ground bay leaves! Have you tried using around rim of a Bloody Mary? You could also use in rubs for chicken, pork and fish. How about adding a pinch when making a terrine or pâté? Add to warming slow cooked beef stews, winter soups or even gazpacho!

I have been using ground Bay for a long time now, and I find it a really useful herb to have in my spice cupboard! So pleased that I could purchase it from SP, my favourite spice merchant!

This is far easier than using whole leaves, which can be hard to fish out before eating! I put this ground bay into bechemal sauce when making macaroni cheese or chicken and leek pie. It's also great in with lamb mince with other spices like cumin and ground coriander. Fantastic packaging too!

This product is amazing - and I now use it all the time in cooking - not least when I oven-roast cauliflower or when marinading chicken and other meats. It's brilliant. Hope you will consider selling other herbs in "ground" form - thyme, rosemary, oregano, etc - that would be brilliant! Many thanks.

This is my new favourite spice! I use it on so many dishes, including sprinkling it over raw cauliflower before roasting in the oven. It gives such a warm depth to any dish!

Wow, discovering ground bay leaves has been a bit of a game changer! I'm reviewing on my second purchase and this time ordered 3 pouches, 2 for me and one for a friend. A sprinkle of ground bay leaves adds a great depth of flavour to so many dishes and I love it so much I have to stop myself from using it everything. Add to mushroom chilli, beany stews, salad dressings, cheese sauces, dumplings, lasagne......and more!
