Laos (Galangal) Powder

Laos powder, or ground galangal, has a tart, citrus flavour with notes of ginger and cardamom. It is typically associated with Thai and Indonesian cuisine to enhance curries, soups and stews.

Galangal is a hardy plant that is well-adapted to tropical climates. While native to Southeast Asia, it’s now cultivated in many other parts of the world, including Africa, the Caribbean, and South America. Aside from food and cooking, ground galangal has plenty of other uses too.
