Korma Spice blend is a fragrant, mild curry powder with warm notes. Its name refers to the traditional cooking method: meat or vegetables are first fried or seared, using extremely high heat, with minimal liquid added.
The dish is known and loved in the UK, especially amongst those that do not enjoy spicy food. Within India, and especially Kashmir, it is common to find chillies added to Korma. The dish first originated in the Mughlai cuisine – a style of cooking that was developed in the Indian subcontinent during the reign of the Mughal Empire, which spanned from the 16th to the 19th century. It’s a fusion of Central Asian, Persian, and Indian culinary traditions.
Our Korma Spice Blend is a great all-purpose curry powder, much like a ‘mild curry powder’ you would buy from a supermarket. Use this to create child-friendly curry the whole family will enjoy! Korma spice blend is most often used to create creamy and aromatic sauces. The spices blend harmoniously with ingredients like yogurt, cream, or coconut milk, producing a velvety and fragrant sauce that coats the main ingredients.
You’ll find it commonly served with an Indian bread such as a naan or roti, which are great for soaking up the flavourful sauce and complement the bread beautifully!
